Name: Mike Winburn

City you live in: Independence

Challenge you are participating in? Lee’s Summit, Billion Step Challenge

How long have you been a walker? I have been running and walking since the first of the year.

Where is your favorite place to walk? Lake Vista Trail at Blue Springs Lake (great place for an early morning or late evening run)

How many total steps have you contributed to the challenge (this is on the challenge page in the “Information” box at the top)? 3,354,768 as of August 31st

Other than walking all the time (ha-ha) what do you like to spend your time doing? cycling, watching sports, trying to learn soccer

Closing thoughts or comments? While working for the American Diabetes Association I learned the importance of healthy habits and active lifestyle. I discovered my own habits were not as healthy as they should be, so I decided to make some changes. Since the first of the year I have lost 14 pounds. While still not at my ultimate goal, I continue to make progress and credit my walking and running with most of my success.
