Aubrey – Busy Mom
Tell us about your training last week:
Last week I had a good week of training considering I’d been slacking lately.
Monday- 4 miles run
Tuesday- Weights class and after school I did the park with the boys
Wednesday- yoga
Thursday- weights and did the precore for 30 minutes
Friday- 4 mile run
Saturday- walked a long way from the bus in the parking lot to the royals stadium. and back.
What was the hardest part of your week? The easiest?
Hardest part was getting up to work out in the morning. School has made me exhausted and the sun is really messing me up! Now that it’s staying dark later in the morning, I cannot run and bike as early as I like to. It’s also my excuse to stay in bed and sleep, but then I get mad at myself when I don’t work out. Ugh!!!
Last week we talked about goal setting and this week we wanted to hear how our bloggers handled set backs or ‘falling off the wagon’:
When I ‘fall off the wagon’ it is so frustrating to me, but it’s my own fault. I can tell I get squishy and don’t have as much energy. I usually have to be signed up for another race to really get motivated, that’s why I try to do at least one race (all different lengths) to stay motivated to work out. Hopefully the rain this week won’t be in the early morning so I can get outside and exercise. I love it when the weather cools off!

My knee is feeling a lot better after taking some time off and doing strength training. I ran 2-3 miles on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday and 4 miles today (Monday). This week I’m going to start interval training to work in some speed workouts, but I will probably still keep it at 3-4 miles a day.
What was the hardest part of your week? The easiest?
This past week has been pretty easy overall. I have been taking it slow so all my runs were relaxing.
Last week we talked about goal setting and this week we wanted to hear how our bloggers handled set backs or ‘falling off the wagon’:
I have faced a set back with my knee, and it is definitely hard to deal with. I feel like my training up to my injury was going so well, and then I had to completely stall my running. Now I have to slowly work back up–I feel like I’m starting all over again which isn’t fun. I feel lazy when I don’t meet my goals and miss several days of running. I am just happier and in a better mood overall when I run every day, and when I don’t I’m just beating myself up for being lazy. Running is therapeutic for me

Tell us about your training last week:
This past week I was able to get in a couple of early morning runs while on the road. It is pretty hard to get started on Monday and on Thursday I just want to focus on getting home, so I have to do my best work on Tuesday and Wednesday. I prefer to get my runs in before work in the morning, but if I have early meetings I have to try to squeeze them in after a long day and that is never very fun. I like to think I got some activity in doing things around my new house like mowing the lawn and other chores that work up a sweat!
What was the hardest part of your week? The easiest?
The hardest part was just getting back in the saddle after an off week. The easiest part was mowing the lawn and calling it a workout

When I have a bad week where I am not able to get as much training done as I would like or even any training at all the worst part is the guilt that I feel! Sometimes knowing how bad I am going to feel if I don’t do a run is enough to get me to get it done. I have to remember that just doing something is better than blowing it off completely so I try to focus on small accomplishments if I have fallen off the wagon.

Tell us about your training this week.
Well, my shoulder woes continued to Thursday in which I went to have my dad (also my doctor) take a closer look. He was able to give me some antibiotics and instructed me to take ibprofen and ice my shoulder as it did not appear to be torn but was most likely tendonitis. Man do I love doctors! My shoulder felt a million times better by Saturday and Sunday I was able to stain our deck and do massive amounts of yard work. With the shoulder troubles, all I was able to do was run a few times throughout the week. Sunday was not “training” but I worked my tail off and burned a lot of calories!
What was the hardest part of your week? The easiest?
Sleeping with the pain in my shoulder was the hardest part. I like to sleep on my side and it was just unbearable. The easiest was getting myself to do something once I was able to use my left arm. I was just so ready to do something that involved my arms, so I was even motivated to get some yard work done (don’t tell my fiancé).
Last week we talked about goal setting and this week we wanted to hear how our bloggers handled set backs or ‘falling off the wagon’:
It usually creates a pretty bad spiral for me. I beat myself up over it because I look at it as self-discipline. That only makes things worse, so lately I have really just been looking at each day as a new challenge. The key to my success is that my lifestyle overall, involves better eating habits and more activity. That does not mean that I must work out intensely and only each grilled chicken. Knowing that and looking at the big picture has really helped me from “falling off the wagon” as I have done in the past.
I have received some very nice compliments the past week or so on how I look, which has really helped me stay on track and realize that what I am doing really is paying off! I want to thank everyone around me for the support and kind words.

Tell us about your training this week.
Training was really rough for me this week…I only ran 4 days. And, I only ran 45 miles. I’d say this week was a tough week mentally and physically for me to get past with my training.
What was the hardest part of your week? The easiest?
The hardest part of my week was to actually get myself outside and run.
The easiest was my long run. The weather was perfect, and we ran a little shorter long run at 14 miles.
Last week we talked about goal setting and this week we wanted to hear how our bloggers handled set backs or ‘falling off the wagon’:
I know i feel like falling off the wagon probably once every couple months. The things I do to stay motivated are…..actually pay for a race a few weeks or a couple months away so I have money obligating me to stay in shape, then, I will set a goal and if I meet this goal I will treat myself to something I normally don’t get myself, and lastly but very importantly have a training partner or a running group to keep me accountable
If anyone has any questions on training post your questions….I’ll try to help you!
